JOYA: AiR is a not-for-profit arts residency in Spain developed by artists for artists of every discipline. JOYA: arte + ecología is ‘an arts-led field research centre’. The research is manifested through an arts residency, collaborations with artists on projects, and transdisciplinary programmes with ecologists and environmental activists.

I used my time at Joya: AiR to open myself wholeheartedly to the environment, to absorb, record and reflect, and experiment with new techniques in the studio. I created an original mural artwork in the communal courtyard area as a visual study of my time travelling from Australia to Spain, referencing painted, collaged and drawn observances achieved in the studio.
